Why is Urdu not optional exam: Allahabad HC

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court has directed additional chief secretary, basic education, to examine why Urdu has not been included as an optional language in the examination for recruitment of 65,500 assistant teachers in the state. The court directed the official to examine that since Urdu and Sanskrit were optional subjects both in TET and BTC examination, the applicants who passed with Urdu would stand to lose inasmuch as no marks would be allocated to them for having studied the language.The court directed additional chief secretary to examine the aspect and file a personal affidavit within 10 days. Justice Ashwani Kumar Mishra , who was hearing the petition filed by Mohd Muntajim , directed to list the case on March 23, 2018 for next hearing.The state counsel informed that the said examination which was to be held on March 12 has been deferred as of now.
