On Tuesday, an affidavit was filed in behalf of divisional commissioner, Varanasi in compliance of the earlier order of the court.The state counsel, appearing for state government, had informed the court that 9.6 acres of land has been identified in Chittupur area in the outskirts of the city and has been approval for construction of the cattle colony. ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday directed the divisional commissioner, Varanasi and also the vice-chairman of Varanasi Development Authority (VDA), municipal commissioner of Nagar Nigam and other concerned officers to provide detailed progress report of work for setting up a cattle colony on the outskirts of Varanasi for stray animals and also for shifting the dairies situated in the city.Hearing a writ petition filed by Jyoti Kesharwani and several others of Varanasi, a division bench comprising Chief Justice Dilip Babasaheb Bhosale and Justice Suneet Kumar also directed the said authorities to provide detailed information through an affidavit within four weeks regarding progress made in shifting of dairies and other stray animals to the outskirts of the city of Varanasi, where the district committee had identified the land for setting up the cattle colony.
