ALLAHABAD: After announcing plans to rope in underwater and advanced drones for aerial surveillance and rescue operations during mega religious fair, the Mela police is all set to equip its Jal Police wing with quad bikes for better patrolling on the banks of Ganga and Yamuna at Kumbh-2019.This would be the first time that quad bikes are being utilised for patrolling at the Kumbh Mela Additional SP (Kumbh Mela), Neeraj Pandey said, “It would be for the first time, that a police wing would be using quad bikes to intensifying patrolling on river banks and chequered plates.”Pandey said that these bikes can be driven almost on surfaces like concrete roads, sandy areas and even rugged terrain.He added that at least five quad bikes, each costing around Rs 5 lakh each, would be provided to the Jal Police.“The quad bikes could be easily driven on chequered plates being laid throughout sandy areas to connect different sectors during Kumbh-2019.”Automobile experts said that quad bikes are designed to be driven on all kinds of terrain.These can also help people reach even the remotest of areas, otherwise inaccessible by other kinds of vehicles.
