Two held for exchanging OMR sheets at exam centre

ALLAHABAD: A day after UP Special Task Force (STF) arrested as many as 17 persons from Gorakhpur and Allahabad for rigging the UP Police Direct Constable Recruitment Exam, two candidates were caught red-handed while exchanging their OMR sheets during the exam at a centre in Dhoomanganj on Tuesday.Police caught the two aspirants exchanging their OMR sheets during the constable recruitment exam while scanning the CCTV footage at Sarojani Balika Intermediate College, Jhalwa, under the limits of Dhoomanganj police station.Nodal Officer and SP (Protocol) Purnendu Singh said the two candidates were identified as Anil Kumar (roll no. 366) and Uday Sharan Singh Yadav (roll no. 364), both residents of Gazipur.“A case under section 410 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act was registered against the two with Dhoomanganj police.”The police are also quizzing them about the incident.Singh said after spotting the two students exchanging the OMR sheets on CCTV cameras, police officials immediately informed the invigilators and asked them to check their sheets.It was found that they had exchanged the OMR sheets in a bid to help others in the examination.Singh said a total of 64,275 candidates had appeared on the second and last day of the UP Police Direct Constable Recruitment exam held in different centers of the city.Meanwhile, police maintained a strict watch on aspirants who had arrived in the city to appear for exam.Police also maintained a strict vigil at public places, bus stands and the railway station after Sunday night’s incident wherein a group of candidates had damaged the window panes of four-wheelers parked at roadside after they were unable to get any information about the arrival of buses.After the exam, streets in Allahabad wore a crowded look as students were on way to their home districts.
