ALLAHABAD: Facing flak from students over mismanagement, the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), on Thursday, filed an FIR against unidentified persons for allegedly spreading rumours about the social work question paper of Provincial Civil Services (Mains) exam-2017 being leaked on WhatsApp and Facebook.A case under Information Technology Act has been registered. Police officials have been requested to help the commission in conducting the examinations smoothly.” Civil Lines police filed an FIR under the IT Act based on a complaint filed by deputy secretary of UPPSC Satish Chandra Mishra.Aspirants were taken by surprise after photographs and videos of the social work question paper, distributed by a lecturer in an Allahabad-based coaching institute Ravindra Sir, started doing rounds on social media on Wednesday. The row over a paper leak in the PCS (Mains) exams-2017 refused to die down on Thursday, even after the commission issued a clarification that the two exams would be help as scheduled, late Wednesday night.Secretary of UPPSC, Jagdish, said, “On Thursday morning, two persons on a motorcycle reached the Mahila Sewa Sadan Inter College and told the centre superintendent that the social work exam had been cancelled as the question paper was leaked.”The centre superintendent immediately called up the examination controller of UPPSC Anju Katiyar. Denying any the claims, Katiyar directed the centre superintendent to continue with the exams.Following the query, the commission had to send a message to all 28 centres incharges in Lucknow and Allahabad and directed them to proceed with the exams as per the schedule.Later, police caught a person identified as Jang Bahadur Shukla for spreading rumours about the paper leak at Mahila Sewa Inter College exam centre.Inspector of Kydganj police station, Raj Kumar Sharma, said, “Shukla was standing at the entrance of the college and inciting the candidates to boycott the paper telling them that the paper had been leaked.”Jagdish said, “The miscreants wanted to jeopardise the ongoing PCS (Mains) exams-2017.
