ALLAHABAD: The littered walls and scattered filth at the wall of platform number one of Allahabad Junction would be thing of the past. From elephants, peacock, sparrow etc the ‘Gond tribal art’ makes it special”, said Saini.Although the painting on the wall and the paints are not that of Mural paintings, but the simplicity of the painting and the vibrant colours instantly attract the attention of passengers. Authorities of Allahabad division of North Central Railway (NCR) have roped in a team of expert from Delhi which is beautifying the wall by painting the wall. The team is led by Yogesh Saini of Delhi street art who has been entrusted with the responsibility of beautifying the wall along with three pupil—Neeraj, Krishna and Naveen. The team have been painting the entire stretch of wall, spanning around 150 meters on Delhi end of platform number One, for the past one week.Using all weather paint, the team has used ‘Gond tribal art-form’ at all the paintings that resembles the Madhubani art-form.“I have chosen all the three habitat of our wild life, starting with land to water and concluding at air”, said Saini. The paint of the art-form will easily sustain the weather for another three years or so, suggests the expert.Although the entire wall, of around 7 feet height, has been painted but the lower part (around two feet) is left plain as the experts are of the opinion that often passenger lean over the wall while sitting and waiting for the train, railways should cover the lower part with tiles.“This will not only make the walls beautiful but will also act as a deterrent for those who spit paan and gutka on the walls, making it look dirty despite the fact that the cleaning staff puts best of their effort”, said Chief Public Relation Office of NCR, G K Bansal. The team, painting this wall, has also painted the walls of Mandoli jail of Delhi, Narela station and the frontage of New Delhi Junction (Pahadganj side).
