UP: Eight die as SUV overturns, rams bike, cycle in Kaushambi

ALLAHABAD: As many as eight persons were killed and four others sustained serious injuries when an SUV carrying around a dozen baratis overturned after hitting a motorcycle and a bicycle near Raksarai village , under the limits of Saray Akil police station , in Kaushambi on Sunday morning.SP (Kaushambi) Pradip Gupta said that the incident took place when the ill-fated vehicle was taking the wedding guests back to Barhari village (Pashchim Sarira) from Chitapur (Saray Akil).Gupta said that the injured were admitted to the district hospital for treatment.Police said the deceased were identified as Rajan (8), Roshni (18), Rathlal Diwakar (35), Nankoo (50), Gorelal (30), Gulshan Ali (18), Bhauti Lal (50)— all residents of Kaushambi—while the police is yet to ascertain the identity of a 50-year-old person who died in the accident.Police said that the group of guests had come to attend the wedding of Lovlesh and Kamla at Chitapur village from Badhari village on Satuday night.On Sunday morning, the guests were on their way back to Barhari village when the driver of vehicle lost his balance and first rammed a motorcycle and then a bicycle.Police said that the SUV was moving at such a high speed that it overturned after hitting the motorcycle and the bicycle.Police said that four persons died on spot while four others had succumbed to their injuries on their way to the hospital.
