Allahabad HC seeks information on two missing tribal women

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Friday directed the UP government's counsel to provide information with regard to alleged illegal detention of two tribal ( Adivasi ) women of Sonbhadra district, who have been missing and their whereabouts are not known since they were forcibly taken away by police on June 18. They have been missing since then and there whereabouts are not known, the petition alleges.The petitioners' counsel, S F A Naqvi further alleged that the policemen belonging to Sonebhadra district are not giving any information about Sokalo and Kismatia. Hearing a habeas corpus writ petition filed by All India Union of Forest Working People (AIUFWP) national vice-president Testa Setalvad and its secretary Arvind Singh, a vacation division bench comprising Justice Pradeep Kumar Singh Baghel and Justice Rajiv Joshi issued directions to list the petition as a fresh case before the appropriate court on July 9, 2018.The petition states that two tribal women Sokalo Gond and Kismatia Gond, an active member of AIUFWP Sonebhadra unit, were detained by Sonbhadra police at Chopan railway station on June 18, 2018 when they were coming from Lucknow by Triveni Express after meeting Uttar Pradesh forest minister.
