NCR to take help of AI-based system to manage Kumbh crowd

The GM said that the matter of acquisition of land for making an approach road to Subedarganj station, which would enable it to function as a separate satellite terminal, had been taken up with the ministry of defence, he added. The NRIs will assemble in Varanasi on the occasion of 'Pravasi Bhartiya Divas'.It was decided at the meeting that detailed berthing and traffic plans for the special trains to be run during Kumbh by all the three zonal railways, having their jurisdiction in Allahabad (NCR, NER and NR), would be drawn up shortly, said NCR CPRO G K Bansal.It was decided that all the ROBs under construction in Allahabad City would be completed by October. Using convolutional neural network (CNN), which the experts plan to get ready and tested before start of Kumbh, the smart software has been successfully tested at the institute.The first prototype will be ready by next month and will be tested at important foot-over bridges of Allahabad junction.The meeting also discussed the issue of providing logistics for bringing 5,000 NRIs from Varanasi to Allahabad between January 21-25 and then taking them from Allahabad to New Delhi. ALLAHABAD: The North Central Railway (NCR) will deploy artificial intelligence-based gadgets for assessing and managing lakhs of devotees who will visit Allahabad junction to take part in the world's largest gathering of humans at Kumbh in 2019.NCR authorities have planned to conduct a trail of the system well in advance before the commencement of Kumbh on January 15 when the first 'shahi snan' (holy bathing day) will be held.Chairing a meeting attended by the divisional commissioner, officials of district administration and NCR, GM NCR, M C Chauhan advised that infrastructure to visualise and monitor the crowds at railway stations in Allahabad using AI will be installed and tested in advance to avoid any hassle at the time of the mela.Experts at Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT-A) are developing a software which would help authorities in assessing the exact number of people arriving at the mammoth gathering.
