ALLAHABAD: After vehement protests by over 600 aspirants over delay in distribution of question papers and alleged paper leak, Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) cancelled the second paper of University Grants Commission-National Eligibility Test (NET)-2018, on Sunday, at SP Convent School in Bamrauli in Allahabad.The examination would be conducted again within a week and the aspirants would be apprised of details via e-mail and SMS. CBSE (Allahabad region) has also decided to revoke the affiliation of the school with immediate effect.On Sunday, Paper I was scheduled to be conducted in the morning shift from 9.30am to 10.30am and Paper II from 11am to 1pm in 52 examination centres in Allahabad. At least 36,512 candidates were slated to take the exams across the district.After the Paper 1 was smoothly conducted at SP Convent School on Sunday, there was a delay of over 15 minutes in the distribution of papers.The aspirants apprised the invigilators of the delay in the distribution of the question paper and also alleged that there had been a paper leak. However, the invigilators and centre superintendent failed to explain the delay. The candidates came out on GT Road and demanded that the examination be cancelled.The angry candidates also blocked the highway after which CBSE regional officer Shvetta Arora, district administrative officers and police reached the spot.After several attempts to convince the candidates to get inside the exam centre failed, CBSE officials decided to cancel the examination.CBSE officials said the centre superintendent had not followed the seating plan guidelines due to which there was delay in the distribution."The centre superintendent has informed us that there was a delay due to serialising of the question paper.
