Criminal injured in encounter in Pratapgarh, 2 others absconding

The criminal sustained bullet injuries with his right leg.The police with the help of villagers also managed to nab another criminal identified as Ejaj while his two accomplices managed to escape.The absconding miscreants have been identified as Hafiq and Najeeb and both were residents of Lalganj. Singh said that a joint team of Kandhai and Raniganj police cordoned off the area and carried out search operation for criminals.To avoid being caught, the criminals left the SUV near Ratanmai village and entered the Ratanmai jungle.When criminals opened fire on the police, local villagers arrived on the spot to help to them after hearing bullet sounds.A local villager, identified as Shiv Mangal and a resident of Kandhai, was injured also injured in the encounter as the criminals suspected that he was trying to approach them.Mangal sustained bullet injuries on his right palm and was admitted to the district hospital.The police team too exchanged fire with the gang of criminals and left one of them, identified as Shubham and a resident of Pratapgarh, injured. ALLAHABAD: Police arrested two criminals after an encounter while they were trying to escape with a looted SUV near Ratanmai forest area , under the jurisdiction of Kandhai police station , in Pratapgarh early Sunday morning.One of the arrested criminal and a villager were also injured during the exchange of fire between the police and the miscreants.SP (City) Pratapgarh, Purnendu Singh said, “A police team had an encounter with a gang of criminals who had escaped to Pratapgarh after looting an SUV on Gorakhpur– Lucknow highway late Saturday night.”As per police reports, four miscreants stopped an SUV at Khalilabad by posing as passengers and told the driver of the SUV that they had to go to Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute in Lucknow.While they were on their way to Lucknow the criminals first got the driver, Vinod Kumar Yadav, to stop the car and held him captive for a few hours and later dumped him near Loni Katara area in Barabanki, fleeing with the SUV.The driver alerted UP 100 and and the police later contacted the SUV’s owner Sandeep Yadav.Yadav informed the Barabanki police that a GPS system was attached to the SUV and police could know the exact location of the stolen vehicle.With the help of GPS, police located the SUV at Jamtali area in Pratapgarh.
