ALLAHABAD: A dalit government lady veterinarian in UP’s Kaushambi district has alleged that three gram pradhans and three others, including a village development officer, block development committee member and a ‘kotedar’ (fair price shop owner), refused to provide her drinking water at a village where she had gone for inspection.Police have lodged an FIR on her complaint and ordered a probe into the matter on the directives of the district magistrate.Police said the FIR has been filed under section 504 of IPC and Section 3 (1)(R)(S) of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribes ( Prevention of Atrocities ) Act with Manjhanpur police station of Kaushambi.Dr Seema, who is posted as deputy chief veterinary officer at Manjhanpur, had on Tuesday was on an inspection tour of three villages, including Ambawa Poorab, where the accused persons allegedly not only refused to cooperate with her in discharge of official duty, but also denied to provide her drinking water, police added.“The complainant, Dr Seema, has claimed that she had gone to review development work in the villages on the directives of district panchayati raj officer (DPRO). At Ambawa Poorab village, she noticed that no water was left in her bottle and sought drinking water from the village head SS Pasi and other government officials. However, she alleged that they refused to give her water as she is a dalit,” Inspector Manjhanpur Ajeet Pandey told TOI on Thursday.She has also alleged that gram pradhans of Bhaila Maqdoompur and Badwa too declined to give her water. When she insisted, she was given contaminated water in a dirty utensil and the accused and others also misbehaved her with while she was discharging her official duty. She has thus claimed to have become a victim of discrimination, he added.Dr Seema also approached the district magistrate of Kaushambi on Wednesday after which he asked the SP to probe the issue and register an FIR accordingly.SP (Kaushambi) Pradip Gupta said, "Police registered an FIR under relevant sections on Wednesday night and launched an investigation into the matter. DySP Manjhanpur has been entrusted with the task of conducting the probe after which appropriate action will be taken.”
