ALLAHABAD: Invoking Lord Shiva during the month of Shrawan got a UP Police constable the much-needed leave sanctioned by his superiors. The six-day leave was sanctioned by the constable’s superiors. I also saw snakes around the shivalinga. The constable’s leave application, which went viral on social media and has the public in splits, explained that through his dreams Lord Shiva was apparently prompting him to offer ‘jalabhishek’ at Haridwar. The letter reads, “Nivedan is prakar hai ki prarthi (constable) ke sapne mai bhagwan Bholenath ke kamandal mai jal aur shivalinga par virajman naag devta dikhai dete hai, lagta hai bhagwan Bholenath Haridwar bulane aur Haridwar se jal kawar lane ka ishara kar rahe hai (Lord Shiva’s kamandal with water had appeared in my dreams. He asked me to be a kanwariya and come to Haridwar to offer jalabhishek).”As per reports, constable Vinod Kumar , posted at Siyana police circle in Bulandshahar, had written to his deputy SP on August 5 requesting the official to grant him a six-day leave so that he could join the kanwariyas and offer ‘jalabhishek’ to Lord Shiva in Haridwar.“Mahodayaji se vinamra nivedan hai ki prarthi ko Haridwar-Rishikesh mai bhagwan Bholenath ke darshan karne hetu aur Haridwar se jal (kawar) lane hetu dinank August 5 se chhah days ka avakash dene ki kripa karein, apki mahan kripa hogi (I request yout to sanction a leave of six days from August 5 so that I could offer prayers and jalabhishek to Lord Shiva at Rishikesh-Haridwar).”ASP (Allahabad) Sukirti Madhav told TOI, “Constable Vinod Kumar’s letter has gone viral on social media and WhatsApp after he sought a six-day leave to offer jalabhishek to Lord Shiva during the ongoing month of Shrawan.”ASP ( Bulandshahr ) Pramod Kumar said, “The constable had submitted the leave application to the deputy SP of Sayana circle and sought leave of six days mentioning that Lord Shiva had appeared in his dreams asking him to be a kanwariya and come to Haridwar to offer jalabhishek.”“This is the first time when a constable has sought leave on the pretext of offering jalabhishek to Lord Shiva,” Kumar said.
