16-year-old girl, uncle 'poison' 8 of family, escape

"Saini police said, "The minor girl and her maternal uncle, Dhirendra Singh (24), were found missing when the neighbours spotted the family members lying on their beds and floors of the house unconscious. ALLAHABAD: A 16-year-old girl escaped from her house along with her maternal uncle after poisoning eight of her family members by offering them eatables laced with sedatives in Sonaran Ka Purwa village, under the limits of Saini police station, in Kaushambi late Tuesday night.Additional DG (Allahabad zone) SN Sabat said, "The girl's family members were admitted to a district hospital. "As per police reports, the accused girl's father was identified as Om Prakash and is a farmer. The condition of two of them was stated to be critical. The girl lived with her parents and siblings.Police said Om Prakash's son Vikas had been ill since the last few days and his in-laws, Ram Singh (65) and Radha Devi (60), had come to his home from their village in Fatehpur to ask about Vikas's wellbeing on Tuesday morning.Dhirendra had been staying at Om Prakash's house since the past one month.On Tuesday night, the minor girl and Dhirendra allegedly served eight members of their family poisoned food duirng dinner and then fled.The family members which took ill after eating the meal were identified as Om Prakash, Chandrawati, Ram Singh, Radha Devi, Ankita Devi, Pramila, Vikas and Rajnish.The police initially took the unconscious family members to the Ismailpur community health centre but the doctors referred them to the district hospital in Manjhanpur for treatment.Kaushambi police said that they were working to find out more about the minor girl's role.
