UP: 2 cops, gangster injured in Pratapgarh encounter

He has been hit in the leg.Singh said that a total of 11 criminal cases, including loot and murders, were pending against Javed with different police stations of Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and adjoining districts. The criminals fired at the police who returned the fire. A gangster and two constables have been injured in the exchange of fire.”The two constables, Bhola Gaur and Viswas Kumar, both posted at Kanhai police station, were rushed to district hospital in Pratapgarh for treatment of injures in hands and abdomen.The police also rushed the injured gangster, identified as Javed of Tala village to the same hospital from where he was referred to SRN hospital in Allahabad. He also carries a reward of Rs 5,000 on his head in connection with a case registered with Kanhai police station.Police were on the lookout of Haqeek, carrying a reward of Rs 10,000 on his head, and his two accomplices Najeeb and Javed in connection with bus and truck loot cases.

ALLAHABAD: Two policemen and a wanted criminal sustained bullet injuries in an encounter near Gunaideeh village under the jurisdiction of Kanhai police station of Pratapgarh district on Wednesday.Reports said the encounter took place when a team of Kanhai police, who had received an input about the presence of hardened criminal Haqeek and his gang members near Gunaideeh village, challenged them to surrender.SP( City) Pratapgarh, Purnendu Singh said: "Acting upon a specific tip off that Haqeek along with his two gang members was present near Gunaideeh village with an intention to commit crime, a team of Kanhai police led by inspector Sanjay Sharma rushed to the spot and challenged the gang. The criminals fired at the police who returned the fire.
