IIIT-A to offer two new BTech courses from new session

ALLAHABAD: Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad ( IIIT-A ) would begin two new BTech programmes in business informatics and mass media informatics from the next academic session. ""While BTech in IT would specialize in business informatics, BTech in mass media and informatics would train the students in various fields associated with mass media," said the director. Also, the institute will hold its 13th convocation on September 8.Institute director Prof P Nagabhushan on Thursday said, "The two new courses are being started in view of the growing importance of information and technology. Along with these, the institute is also all set to start two 'centres of excellence'. We have got approval from MHRD and the courses will begin from 2019.

"While centre of excellence for robotics and health care would go a long way in helping those in need of critical care, the centre of excellence for cognitive sciences would probe the human mind and its association with day to day life," said Prof Nagabhushan.He added that the institute, which would be entering into the 20th year of is existence, would be observing 'Beyond 20 by 2020'. "Under the three years of celebrations, year 2018 would be curtain raiser while 2019 would be inaugural and 2020 would be termed as valedictory years of the celebrations," he said.
