Kumbh Mela: No UP Board exams on shahi snan days

ALLAHABAD: Seeking to avoid any inconvenience to students because of the rush of visitors, the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board (UPSEB) would not conduct any examinations for class X and XII students on any of the shahi snan days during the Kumbh Mela next year.Often referred to as one of the world’s biggest gatherings, the Kumbh Mela would commence from January 15 and would end on March 4, around the same time when the board examinations are conducted.The board is preparing the timetable and is expected to release it by this week.The first snan would be on observed on Makar Sankranti on January 15, the day the Kumbh Mela would start. The other snans would be observed on Paush Purnima (January 21), Mauni Amavasya (February 4), Basant Panchami (February 10), Maghi Purnima (February 19) and Mahashivratri (March 4).UP Board officials said that the increased traffic on roads would affect the movement of students and school vehicles.During a review meet with district officials convened recently in the city, deputy chief minister Dinesh Sharma had said that preparations for Kumbh Mela and snan days would be considered while preparing the time table for UP Board examinations.
