ALLAHABAD: District police on Saturday busted an illicit liquor racket by arresting four persons and recovering 1,114 bottles and equipment used for making adulterated item from them.Acting on a tip-off, police raided the factory in trans-Ganga area of Handia. Those nabbed include Gulab Singh , Shravan Kumar, Jai Singh, Ajay Singh.SO Handia Ashutosh Tiwari said, “Four accused were caught red-handed making the liquor by mixing it with chemical. Gulab Singh was putting duplicate wrapper showing mark of UP government on bottles, others were preparing adulterated liquor and filling it.”The accused used to make illicit liquor and paste stickers of wine manufacturing companies. During interrogation, they revealed that they used to supply it to rural areas of Jaunpur, Bhadohi , Azamgarh and other eastern-UP areas. Police seized the factory and material.Packing and manufacturing equipment including plastic pipes, keep, utensils were recovered from the factory. Besides, eight sacks containing 1,114 bottles each of 200 ml, three gallon spirit, 2,186 bottle caps, 3,380 wrappers, 1,656 empty bottles, three litres of spirit and other raw material were also seized, he said.A four-wheeler and motor cycles were also seized. Police have registered FIR against the culprits under relevant sections and launched probe.
