With its solar switch, Allahabad University to pare annual bill by Rs 40 lakh

After drawing 1.438 megawatt of power from the solar panels, the system would draw the remaining electricity automatically from the grid of electricity department. The system would work as the modulator between the power supplied by electricity department and the energy harnessed by the solar panels at AU. ALLAHABAD: In a move which will save the institution Rs 40 lakh annually in electricity bills, the Allahabad University (AU) got solar panels installed in 23 buildings of its four campuses on Monday.Inaugurated by RL Hangloo, these solar panels would produce 1.438 megawatt of energy every day.Public relations officer of AU, Chitranjan Kumar, said that the the government had picked a New Delhi-based company, HFM Solar Power Private Limited, to install solar panels.The solar panels are connected to a 'net metering system' (NMS).
