Allahabad: For the policemen coming to Allahabad from western UP districts for Kumbh-2019 duty, their work is not just a means of employment but also to serve the mankind and seek divine intervention.While talking to TOI, many policemen said that apart from their routine duties, ‘dharam-karam’ and seeking ‘moksha’ by serving visitors were two reasons which led them to go opt for duty during the Mela.A policeman from Bareilly range, Sanjay Kumar, said “Apart from seeking blessing of Maa Ganga, I want to witness the sea of humanity on the banks of Ganga. I have always heard about the thousands of pilgrims who come to Kumbh Mela for dharam karam .”His collague, Sumit, said, “ As it is winters, our duties would be tough. However, I chose to come her after hearing my inner voice. I have also interacted with those policemen who were assigned duties during the earlier Kumbh Melas and Magh Melas and they told me about their unforgettable experiences.”Many policemen have also given up habits like chewing pan masala after coming to Allahabad.“When I reached the banks of Ganga for the routine training the first day, I was amused to see the Sangam. When hundreds of people would be visiting Kumbh-19, the scene would be astonishing and memorable,” a sub-inspector rank police official preferring anonymity.ADG ( Allahabad zone) SN Sabat said “These policemen would undoubtedly be getting unparalleled exposure and a unique experience while performing their duties during the Kumbh-2019. They are being imparted training in areas like crowd management, traffic control.”(Some names of policemen have been changed on request.)
