However, after hearing concerned parties and going through the FIR, the court refused to quash the FIR but directed the police authorities not to arrest the petitioners till filing of chargesheet.Acting on the petition filed by Sameena, a five-judge bench presided over by the then Chief Justice of India Jagdish Singh Khehar , by 3-2 majority in August 2017, had held instant triple talaq as unconstitutional.Sameena is also one of the petitioners in the petitions filed before the apex court, challenging constitutionality of niqah halala and polygamy ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Tuesday stayed the arrest of triple talaq crusader and social activist Sameena Begum and one other woman of Bulandshahr in an alleged blackmailing case.While disposing of the petition filed by Sameena and another woman, a division bench comprising Justice Pankaj Naqvi and Justice KP Singh directed police officers not to arrest the petitioners till submission of chargesheet, subject to their extending full cooperation during investigation.On October 18, 2018 an FIR was registered at Kotwali Bulandshahr against Sameena and another woman on the complaint of one Aasmaa Parveen, who alleged that the two women were blackmailing her.In the petition, both the petitioners prayed for quashing this FIR lodged against them.
