Train 18 reaches Allahabad on its test run

Train 18 had breached the 180 kmph speed limit in the Kota-Sawai Madhopur section earlier this year. "The trial run was successful and Train 18 will not go up to Varanasi and return for New Delhi at 2pm" said CPRO North Central Railway, G K Bansal. After a gap of half an hour, the train will start its return journey to Delhi. The train will start early morning at 6am and will reach Varanasi by 2pm. Fares are yet to be decided but they are likely to be higher than Shatabdi or Rajdhani Express.

ALLAHABAD: The much talked about and said to be the fastest in the country, Train 18, arrived at Allahabad Junction on Saturday morning while conducting its test run.The train, which is said to be superior than Rajdhani and Satabadi would soon run between New Delhi and Varanasi.Train 18 is said to be superior than Rajdhani and Satabadi trains of the countryOn its test run, Train 18 started it's onward journey from New Delhi at 12.55am on Friday midnight and reached Kanpur at 5.48am and covered the distance between Kanpur and Allahabad (200km) in exactly two hours, reaching the Sangam city at 7.48am."The trial run was successful and Train 18 will not go up to Varanasi and return for New Delhi at 2pm" said CPRO North Central Railway, G K Bansal."This was a wonderful experience for us and we maintained the speed of 130 kmph although this high-speed train can travel at a speed of 160kmph" said the Loco pilot of the train, Mohammad Arshad Khan.Train 18 will take eight hours in its journey from New Delhi to Varanasi, reducing the travel time by six hours. The train will start early morning at 6am and will reach Varanasi by 2pm. After a gap of half an hour, the train will start its return journey to Delhi. Fares are yet to be decided but they are likely to be higher than Shatabdi or Rajdhani Express. The train will cut the journey time by 15 per cent as compared to the 30-year-old Shatabdi ExpressThe railway authorities have conducted all major trials and the results are satisfactory.
