High court’s no to stay arrest of ‘head’ of solvers’ gang

ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Wednesday declined to stay the arrest of one Sandeep Kumar Prajapati, arrested by the Special Task Force ( STF ) on the charges of heading a gang involved in leaking question papers of competitive examinations.It was also alleged that the petitioner had got solvers appeared in place of actual candidates in the competitive exams.Dismissing the writ petition filed by Prajapati, a division bench comprising Justice Naheed Ara Moonish and Justice Virendra Kumar Srivastava directed the applicant to surrender before the court below concerned within three days.The petitioner had requested the court to quash the FIR lodged against him and also stay his arrest in the aforesaid case. Special Task Force (STF) on December 23, 2018 had lodged FIR at police station Dhoomanganj, Allahabad under section 420 (cheating) and other sections of Indian Penal Code and Information Technology Act, alleging that the petitioner headed a gang which helped in leaking question papers of competitive examinations, which take place in the state.Further, he arranged solvers who appeared in the competitive examinations in place of actual candidates in various competitive examinations of the state.The petitioner had taken the plea that he had been falsely implicated in this case, as his name did not figure in the FIR.
