94% fall in no. of UP Board students from Nepal, 8 states

Allahabad: The Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Board ( UPSEB ) has registered a decline of over 94% in the number of students registering from Nepal and eight neighbouring states for class X and XII exams this year, following tough anti-copying measures adopted by the state government in 2018. The UP Special Task Force (STF) too was entrusted with the task of monitoring the exams, leading to an effective check on mass copying. The exams will simultaneously begin on Thursday.At least 1.15 lakh students had applied from others states in 2017, while the number went down to 1.12 lakh in 2018 and this year only 6,300 students have registered online for the exams.In 2018, the Yogi Adityanath government had taken tough measures to check mass copying in the exams and made it mandatory for all Board centres to install CCTV cameras.
