Budget bonanza: Rs 150-cr for chambers and parking in HC

In 2018 budget, Rs 500 crores has been allocated for all Metro rail projects in the state.It may be mentioned here that Akhilesh Yadav government had already started metro rail project in the city. Allahabad: The state government has made a provision of Rs 150 crore for construction of multilevel parking and advocate chambers in Allahabad High Court and equal amount has been provided for carrying out Metro Rail projects in five cities including Prayagraj. UP finance minister Rajesh Agarwal declared this while presenting the Yogi government’s second annual Budget in the Assembly on Thursday.The state government has also proposed to further develop Rishi Bhardwaj Ashram and Shringverpur Dham in Prayagraj. The detailed project report has also been made and routes were also finalised but the work failed to take off after the change of regime.Social activist Kamlesh Singh said the government has failed the move an inch in the metro rail project despite making budgetary provisions.Opposition criticised the budget. The ashrams has already been beautified and develop by installing 30-feet tall statue of the sage while the roads linking to religious site of Shrigverpur have been built and place beautified as part of Kumbh projects.Chairman of Elders Committee and former president of Allahabad High Court Bar Association, VC Mishra has welcomed the budgetary provisions.The legal fraternity has been demanding for the advocates chamber from past several years.

The initiative will definitely resolve the basic problem of lack of space to some extent and we hope that government will soon consider our other demands as well, he said.He said the multi-level parking would ease the problem of traffic jam in the area around the High Court.Apart from it, provision for Metro Rail project has also been made but mere Rs 150 Cr budgetary allocation has been made which would be shared with four other cities.In 2017, the city had got Rs 288 crores for the Metro project in the budget, but work stopped after finalisation of two routes only. In 2018 budget, Rs 500 crores has been allocated for all Metro rail projects in the state.It may be mentioned here that Akhilesh Yadav government had already started metro rail project in the city. District spokesperson of SP Daan Bahadur said “the budget had nothing in sector of social justice and welfare of minority community.” He added that state government had failed to take care of all sections of the society and even the weight of fertilizer sacks for farmers have reduced.Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) general secretary and senior Congress leader Mukund Tiwari said “the budget presented by the state government had nothing to do with welfare of the people.” He added that promises being made by the BJP led state government has been fallen flat and there seems to be no hope that people of the state could be able to see good days ( acche din) in coming days.
