Bihar Guv safe after fire in tent on Kumbh campus

Allahabad: A tent adjacent to Bihar governor Lalji Tandon’s tent at Triveni Shankul in Arail area on Kumbh mela campus caught fire late on Tuesday night. The Bihar governor was immediately shifted to Circuit house while others were also accommodated in other tents.”SSP clarified that the fire broke broke out in a tent adjacent to the governor’s tent. As the occupants and security personnel raised an alarm, Mela police teams swung into action and brought out the occupants. “As the fire spread rapidly, security personnel and police swung into action, escorted the governor from his tent and took him to a safe place and later shifted him to the Circuit house in the city,” he added.The fire gutted properties worth thousands of rupees, including furniture, household articles, mobiles, etc.Over 17 tents have been destroyed in incidents of fire on Mela campus since Kumbh began on January 15. No one was injured in the fire and police safely escorted Tandon out of his tent and shifted him to Circuit house in the city.An electrical short-circuit is reported to be the reason behind the fire which created panic among devotees in the VVIP area.SSP (Kumbh) K P Singh said, “The fire broke out at around 2:30 am and the devotees staying at VIP the camp woke up after noticing sparks inside the camp.
