Allahabad: The Yogi Adityanath government is set to break the Guinness Book of World Records held by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) by parading 500 Kumbh Mela special buses non-stop on Nawabganj-Soraon route on February 28. Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) will run the saffron coloured vehicles, carrying the official logo of the mega religious fair on a 3.2 km stretch of road, to include the attempt in the ‘Longest Parade of Buses’ record category.The record for the largest parade having a fleet of 390 school buses was made on Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Highway, starting from Al Saadiyat island and running up to Yas Island, in the UAE in 2010. Officials said the vehicles would run for 3.2 km at a speed of 15 km/hr and maintain a safe distance of 10 to 12 meters from each other. At least 75 observers from the Guinness Book of World Records will witness the record-making attempt on the route from 8 to 9.30 am on February 28.UPSRTC has issued directions to all the 18 regions of the state to send the buses along with manpower in the city by February 27.SP Singh, regional service manager, UPSRTC, said, “The success of the record attempt is highly dependent on performances of drivers so highly skilled and experienced manpower have been earmarked to remove any hindrance.” Successful completion of the run will place Prayagraj and UPSRTC on the world map, said Singh. As per the norms, appointed drivers should have valid driving licence, buses should be insured, they should have pollution check certificates. A letter of declaration confirming al buses having 30 plus seating capacity should be provided to the Guinness officials.Singh said that for unrestricted movement of buses, entry on the 22-km long bypass will be banned from 10 pm of February 27 till the completion of the parade. In case, if bus moving ahead stops, the following one would use emergency lane to overtake and come back to the left lane to continue the activity. However, non-performance of 5% (25) of the total buses will lead to disqualification of the entire exercise. The 22-km route has been divided into three zones A, B and C. All the buses will be parked on 8.7 km route of Zone A and will run on 3.2 km stretch of Zone B, also named as activity area.The Zone B will be the activity area where each of the four-wheelers, numbered from 1 to 500 by the Guinness officials, will parade. Two gates have been erected to showcase the entry and exit points of the 3.2 km route of the activity area,.Zone C, the 10-km route, will be the third region where the buses are slated to pass after the record making feat.
