'Society should break all barriers of caste, creed'

ALLAHABAD: Seeking to break down barriers imposed by caste and creed, Parmarth Niketan honoured several sanitation workers for their efforts to keep the Mela ground clean during the Kumbh-2019, at its camp on Wednesday. "Swami Chidanand Saraswati led a procession, along with sanitation workers and seers, to take a dip in Sangam on Wednesday. People clean their own trash and their own mess or, at most, they clean it for their family members. You are the ones who have made the world your family and ensure cleanliness for everyone. "Cultural beliefs which do not serve anyone and harm people have no place in today's India and that the society should be free of the barriers of 'jaati' (caste)," said Parmarth Niketan president Swami Chidanand Saraswati "We are here to honour you as samaan (respect) is more important than saman (items).

We need to realise that these people are our brothers and sisters, and the caretakers of our land. As I have been saying since the beginning of Kumbh Mela , the holy rivers of Ganga, Yamuna , and Saraswati do not ask for anyone's 'jaati' before they take a dip," said Swami Saraswati.Chairman of National Commission of Safai Karamcharis, Manhar Valjibhai Zalaji, also attended the programme.Parmarth Niketan's Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati, said, "Our culture teaches us 'Vasudev Kutumbakam' which means that the world is a family, but we are actually living that tenet. People clean their own trash and their own mess or, at most, they clean it for their family members. You are the ones who have made the world your family and ensure cleanliness for everyone."Swami Chidanand Saraswati led a procession, along with sanitation workers and seers, to take a dip in Sangam on Wednesday.
