Allahabad HC for government reply on safety measures on Yamuna e-way

The petitioner stated that in the last six years as many as 705 people died in road accidents on the expressway. The order was passed on March 1. The court has issued directions and suggested to take security measure to avoid such accidents on the highways.” The counsel for the petitioner submitted that the respondents have totally ignored the directions and suggestions made by the Supreme Court and a large umber of accidents were taking place on the expressway. Counsel for the petitioner had relied upon a judgment of the Supreme Court in the case of S. Rajaseekaran (II) Vs. Union of India (UoI) and others, 2018 (13) SC 516, where certain directions were issued to ensure road safety measures.After hearing all concerned, the court passed the above directives while observing, “The court has noticed that highest number of accidents occurred in India. ALLAHABAD: Hearing a PIL alleging non-compliance of road safety measures in Yamuna Expressway, resulting into a large number of accidents in the recent past, the Allahabad high court has directed the state government, Yamuna Expressway Project authorities and other respondents to file their respective replies in response to the allegation.Hearing a PIL filed by Bharti Kashyap, a division bench comprising Justice Pradeep Kumar Singh Baghel and Justice Pankaj Bhatia directed to put up this case as a fresh case on April 9 for the next hearing.The court also directed all the respondents to file their replies by the next date of hearing.The grievance raised in the PIL is that due to non-compliance of road safety measures in Yamuna Expressway, a large number of accidents had taken place in the recent past, resulting into death of a large number of people.
