High court cancels ex-MLA's bail in 2008 gangrape case

The applicant alleged that after grant of bail, the accused did not appear before the trial court.
It was only when in March 2014, the high court directed high-ranking police officers of the state to either appear before the court or arrest the accused, the accused surrendered before the court below and was granted bail by the court within three days.
It is a fit case of misuse of bail and also that bail granted to MLA deserves to be cancelled.”The bail cancellation application states that after passing of a considerable long period after the case of gang rape, Sagar surrendered in May 2014 and was granted bail within three days of his surrender.
As a result, the trial of the criminal case registered against him was still pending.After going through the record, the court found that despite non-bailable warrant (NBW) issued by the court since many years, the accused remained at large and police could not arrest him.
It is alleged in the FIR that on April 23, 2008, when the survivor girl was on her way to appear in BA examination, she was forcefully taken into a car by the then MLA with the help of one Neeraj Sharma.
