Two minors burnt alive as thatched hut catches fire

Deena Nath used to stay in a temporary thatched hut located near the kiln.“In the wee hours of Tuesday, their hut caught fire, probably because of lantern or the bidi, and because of winds, the fire quickly spread. Allahabad: Two kids, Mehngu lal (10) and Shatrughan (8) of Fazipur village under Manjhanpur police station of Kaushambi district were burnt alive after their hut caught fire in the wee hours of Tuesday.According to SP Kaushambi, Pradeep Gupta, Deena Nath and his wife used to work in a brick kiln located at Gobarsahai under Sadar police station. Before the fellow labours could help and all family members could come out, the fire had engulfed the hut in which these two children got trapped and died,” said the official.The fire got enhanced after the petrol tank of the motorcycle, belonging to Deena Nath and parked adjacent to the wall of the hut, caught fire and petrol spilled out.However, other kids of the family including Rubi, Suraj, Rahul and Chandni sustained minor burn injuries and were taken to government hospital of Manjhanpur for treatment, he added.Among the survivors are the twin kids of the couple, aged 18 months, added Gupta.DM, Manish Kumar Verma, SDM Joyti Maurya and other officials of the district administration visited the site and met the family members.“The DM has assured of all possible help, both monetary and in kind that can be extended to the family in this situation”, said the SP.The bodies have been send for postmortem, he added.
