The health department has launched an exercise to compile details of medical and paramedical staff posted at community and primary health centres, government hospitals and other medical facilities in Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi districts for novel coronavirus immunisation, whenever the vaccine is launched.

The four districts comprise the Prayagraj range. Joint director (health) Dr Sudhakar Pandey said, “We are preparing a list of healthcare workers including ASHA activists, auxiliary nurse midwives, ward boys, nurses, pharmacists and doctors in the four districts. The professionals would be administered the Covid-19 vaccine, once it is launched.” “These professionals are at maximum risk as they come in contact with novel coronavirus patients daily.”

Covid-19 has claimed the lives of four healthcare workers in Prayagraj district so far. “Healthcare workers have been instructed to submit details like their name, ID number, phone number and posting status at primary community health centres at the earliest. Once we receive the details, we would get an idea about the requirement of the vaccine in each district,” said a senior health department official.
