Cheoki to be developed as satellite station

ALLAHABAD: As the authorities of North Central Railways have started making preparations for enhancing the passenger amenities in view of Ardh Kumbh 2019, it has been decided to revamp the facilities at Cheoki station of NCR . The station, which caters to the needs of passengers going to Mumbai, has been neglected by the authorities for the past several years despite the fact that several important trains were shifted from Allahabad Junction to this station. The GM also conversed with passengers at both the stations and took their feedback. Once this work is completed, the platform will become a high-level platform and will greatly benefit the passengers and other users of the station.Apart from this, the authorities are also mulling over the possibility of creating holding capacity for passenger-carrying trains at this station by creating a loop line in the station yard. The GM instructed that the platforms and the approaches to the platforms should be repaired wherever the wear and tear had set in, taking special care to ensure that waterlogging does not take place on the same.

An amount of Rs 50 crores has been earmarked for revamping the facilities at this station.While work on some of the proposals have already commenced at the station, many more are in the pipeline and would be completed before the commencement of ardh kumbh.Among the infrastructure development works that are proposed at this station includes improvement of the circulating area, commissioning of escalator which is being installed at the foot over bridge, construction of new road connecting the station to the main road of Naini area, extension of station building, provision of LED lighting on the station, construction of Third line between Naini and Cheoki and installation of CCTV in the computerized reservation facility (PRS) of the station.In addition, the possibility of converting all the ticket counters in the booking office from unreserved to PRS is also being mulled by the authorities.NCR GM, MC Chauhan too inspected the in-progress-work of raising of platform number One of the station. Once this work is completed, the platform will become a high-level platform and will greatly benefit the passengers and other users of the station.Apart from this, the authorities are also mulling over the possibility of creating holding capacity for passenger-carrying trains at this station by creating a loop line in the station yard. The creation of this loop line in the yard will greatly benefit the punctuality of passenger-carrying trains between Karchhna and Allahabad as it will allow precedence to be given to trains between Karchhna-Chheonki-Naini-Allahabad , a facility which is not available till now.Along with Cheoki, authorities are also focusing on Naini as several enclosures are being made in view of Ardh-Kumbh and Maha kumbh.
