HC asks how bird park land went to housing society

Passing the above directives, the court remarked that on failure of the authorities to develop a bird sanctuary, why shouldn't the acquired land be returned to the gram sabha or owners. The court has fixed July 26 as the next date for hearing.In the petition, it was alleged that public land of village Arthala, including some land near river Hindon, was acquired by the state government for the development of Arthala Bird Sanctuary. But later on, instead of developing the bird sanctuary, the said land was allotted to two private companies for construction of residential buildings.The state government informed the court that an inquiry was on and action would be taken on the basis of the report. ALLAHABAD: The Allahabad high court on Wednesday directed the chief secretary of the state to file his personal affidavit explaining as to how the land acquired for Arthala Bird Sanctuary at Ghaziabad had been allotted to private builders for construction of residential buildings.Hearing a writ petition filed by one Suleman Dabas, a division bench comprising Justice Arun Tandon and Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi asked the state government to take action against the erring officers.
