In the series of vintage cars running on Allahabad roads, NYOOOZ Allahabad brings to you a 1947 Desoto custom owned by Mr. Shwetank Singhal. An avid vintage cars collector, Shwetank today has 9 vintage cars parked in his garage.
This beauty is a Six cylinder, 236.7 cu inches (3.9 L) and 109 bhp. Its features include fluid drive, hydramatic transmission and suicide doors. The original price of the car was $ 1761 without accessories and this car is with Shewetank from 2003.
In an exclusive conversation with NYOOOZ Allahabad, Shwetank said, “Had to pursue to original owner of the car for three years before he agreed to give it to me. This long period of waiting and convincing made the acquistion even more special.
Added to this was the fact that it would sit next to its elder sister, a 1947 Chysler in my garage.”
The car grabs every eyeball when it hits the road. The interior looks royal with the color combination soothing moods.
The DeSoto make was founded by Walter Chrysler on August 4, 1928, and introduced for the 1929 model year. It was named after the Spanish explorer Hernando de Soto. The DeSoto logo featured a stylized image of the explorer who led the first European expedition deep into the territory of the modern-day United States (Florida, Georgia, and Alabama), and was the first documented European to have crossed the Mississippi River.
