After DUSU, NSUI aims to capture AUSU

Allahabad: Buoyed by the victory in Delhi University Student Union (DUSU) elections, National Students Union of India (NSUI) expects the same in Allahabad University Student Union (AUSU) elections. "Like DUSU polls, the district NSUI leadership would focus on student issues only while canvassing and campaigning. NSUI district unit has come with a slogan 'DU hui hamari - ab AU ki bari'. All of them had played key role in NSUI's success in DUSU election.Senior NSUI leader Jitesh Mishra told TOI that after 2003, NSUI has not been able to win in AUSU election. A team of office-bearers, who campaigned in DUSU polls, would also be campaigning for the NSUI candidates in AUSU election on a planned strategy.

NSUI district unit has come with a slogan 'DU hui hamari - ab AU ki bari'. It has decided to invite a five-member team comprising Girish Raya Chodankar, Oscar Fernandis, Nadeem Javed, Ruchi Gupta (AICC incharge for NSUI) and NSUI president Fairoz Khan to chalk out poll strategy for AUSU elections. All of them had played key role in NSUI's success in DUSU election.Senior NSUI leader Jitesh Mishra told TOI that after 2003, NSUI has not been able to win in AUSU election. "This time, we are working hard to win the confidence of students. Victory in DUSU has boosted the morale of the organisation. We would adopt the same strategy here," he said. A team of office-bearers, who campaigned in DUSU polls, would also be campaigning for the NSUI candidates in AUSU election on a planned strategy. The district unit of NSUI would also invite Youth Congress leaders Jyotiraditya Scindia, Sachin Piolot as well as UPCC chief Raj Babbar for campaigning."Like DUSU polls, the district NSUI leadership would focus on student issues only while canvassing and campaigning. National or international issues would not be discussed," Mishra added. He pointed out that NSUI campaign would start from September 20. It has been decided take up canvassing on the issues of library and canteen facilities, sports and cultural activities, hostel availability as well as academic atmosphere.Before DUSU polls, NSUI had conducted a signature-cum-grievance feedback campaign in Delhi University and other colleges to get feedback from students on various issues and selected prominent problems as poll issues. Mishra said, "We would go to each and every voter and ask to point out the problems ask what ABVP and Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha had done for them in the past." District NSUI president Rajiv Yadav said that they would concentrate on problems faced by students. There would be no pump and show like installing posters or banners, slogan shouting or taking out long cavalcade to show strength in and around the campus. "We would strictly follow the recommendations of Lyngdoh committee," he said.
