SCS' win a mandate against BJP govt's policy: AUSU president Awanish Yadav

When he was just four-year-old, then defence minister Mulayam Singh Yadav visited his house in 1997 on wedding of her (aunt) with OP Yadav, a known SP face. "At the age of nine, when Akhilesh Yadav visited our house at CC road, Deoria in 2001, Awanish was quite impressed and had asked him: "What does it take to become a neta?"

ALLAHABAD: The newly-elected president of the Allahabad University Students' Union (AUSU) Awanish Kumar Yadav said on Sunday that Samajwadi Chatra Sabha 's (SCS) win was the mandate against the policies of the BJP-led governments at the Centre and the state.Samajwadi Chatra Sabha, a student wing of Samajwadi Party , won four out of five posts in the election, results of which were declared late on Saturday night.Yadav shared his views on some issues raised by TOI.When asked what was the winning edge for SCS in the polls, Yadav said, "the policy of BJP led governments at the Centre and state, wherein the youth is struggling for employment and not to forget the BHU incident wherein on the behest of this government, innocent girls of the reputed central university of the country were brutally lathi-charged, was the main reason for this brute mandate in the election.On the question of relevance of AU elections on country politics, Yadav, who is the son of a peasant from Deoria, says, "it is not only now but since past several decades, national politics has been decided by the mood on the AU because of which AUSU elections are so keenly watched. Youth, especially the student fraternity, has always been with the Samajwadi Party, this result reflected just that."Awanish Yadav did schooling from Deoria district after which he came to AU for pursuing higher studies. The umbilical cord with the SP gain strength year after year and here he is, making history and becoming part of the rich legacy of AUSU which has given several eminent personalities and leaders to our country", said his uncle, OP Yadav.On Sunday, soon after taking oath at the union hall of AU, Awanish said, "prior to results, I was a candidate from Samajwadi Chatra Sabha but now I am the president of the entire student fraternity, students of not only AU but also our brother and sisters of the constituent colleges can approach me as and when required and now the chapter of creative AUSU begins for which student welfare will be foremost and above personal interest."
