Govt Hospitals set to get 'kayakalp' makeover

ALLAHABAD: In a bid to introduce 'standard' health facilities available at health centers including government hospitals and primarycommunity health centers, the National Health Mission (NHM) is taking up a progamme titled " Kayakalp " at government hospitals and community primary health centers.Under the Kayakalp scheme, medical and paramedial staff are being trained by a team of experts for quality assurance.Dr Rajesh Kumar Tripathi, divisional consultant quality assurance told TOI, "A team of experts has imparted training to medical and para medical staff of five medical centers including Mauaima, Saidabad and Dhanupur PHCs and Kaurihar and Holagarh CHCs.He further added, "Apart from of Handia and Kutwa CHCs, all five government hospitals of the district including TB sapru, SRN, Colvin, and Duffrin would also be covered in next phase". "Medical and paramedical staff are advised about the measures that are helpful to maintain standard work in hospital management like hospital upkeep, sanitation and hygiene, waste management, infection control, hospital support services and hygiene promotion " said Tripathi adding "awards will be given out to the best-performing facilities" he added.Since Kayakalp is a national project, hospitals as well as PHCCHC that score over 70% under the state assessment committee will be evaluated again by a national committee.Additional CMO said, "The scheme is also aimed to incentivize and recognize such public healthcare facilities that show exemplary performance in adhering to standard protocols of cleanliness and infection control.
