ALLAHABAD: The attempt of UP Secondary Education Board UP Board ) to check cheating during class X and XII exams — by determining centres through online mode — has had a setback with a plethora of complaints over selection of debarred schools.Now the board has issued a list of 413 debarred schools and asked the DIoS across the state to select a new centre in case an existing one figures on the list.Apart from this, government inter colleges (GIC), government girls' inter college (GGICs) and aided schools were not given preference and the most centres are private schools. Only 377 GIC/GGICs out of a total of 1,910 have been made centres while 3,437 public schools out of 4,531 have been made centres. Similarly, 8057 unaided schools out of 24,342 have been made examination centres.The teachers' associations has objected to the selection methodology, questioning the intention of the board. Secretary, UP Board, Neena Srivastava, said examination centre is allocated only on the basis of information about infrastructure provided by principals.In several cases, wrong information have been provided by DIoS while in others, data uploaded were not rectified in given time. The board has issued a warning to officials and had asked them to rectified mistakes by November 27. "Irresponsible acts on the part of officials have maligned the image of UP Board. The DIoSs have again been instructed to amend the wrong data provided and upload it on the official website of board after approval from the district selection committee," she said.Office bearer of UP Madhyamik Shikshak Sangh, Shailesh Kumar Pandey, said, "The state government had initiated the online system to check copying but several schools across the state have been left out due to the irregularities on the part of DIoS. There are over 1,500 government schools which have not been not been made centres despite following all the norms of centre allocation policy."
