The recent proposal to go for early elections by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has pushed all parties in a state of nervous excitement in Mahabubnagar district. As the debate on the early election has reached its peak in media, particularly the social media's like Face book, Whattsapp, twitter and Instagram are going agog as different types of views from different people are doing rounds which has raised the political heat to its pinnacle among the various groups in the district. For instance, the local TRS leaders themselves are wary of the move by their party head and are seem to be nervous on one hand while on the other are posing a brave front and expressing confident that irrespective of the time, they are ready to face the elections and win for a second term. They feel they have attained the confidence of the people of Telangana with their welfare programmes and development schemes during the past 4 years. "The people are aware that no party in Telangana is as dedicated as the TRS party, which has launched innumerable number of schemes, development programmes and projects which Telangana had never witnessed during the past 70 years of its independence,“ observed Dr. Laxma Reddy, Minister for Health and Family Welfare. “We are glad that we have not only implemented the programmes that we had promised in our election manifesto, but have also done much more beyond that. Let all the parties unite together and fight against the TRS, the people are with us and am sure they will support us for the second term also so that we can complete some of our incomplete programmes and make Telangana a completely 'Bangaru Telangana'," he added. However, even though it has not yet announced officially about the early elections by the state government, mere coining of the term early elections has really raked a hot debate among the general public as well. Wherever there is a gathering and general crowding of people in villages and near the tea stalls, hotels and other general places of gathering in rural and urban areas in Mahabubnagar district, people are seen debating on the issue of the proposed pre-election decision taken by the Chief Minister. All the while the people are analysing the pros and cons of the proposed decision by the Chief Minister. “Definitely the talk of early elections has not only put the ruling TRS party leaders themselves to think for a while to weigh the pros and cons, however, the opposition parties are trying to take it as an opportunity to take on the ruling party nailing its failures, misdeeds and wrong policies of the government to the public and trying to garner the maximum mileage out of the issue," says Pandaiah, local political analyst from Balanagar mandal. Most of the major parties, including the TRS, Congress and to some extent CPI and CPM have all become alert and they are trying to influence the voters and particularly eying the neutrals to bring them into their fold and trying their best to get their confidence and making them join their respective. Particularly the TRS party is going aggressively to ensure that each and every section of society is touched upon. Health Minister Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, with an aim to woo the voters of various communities has been taking part in different programmes organized by Padmashalis, Yadavas, SCs and STs and making his best efforts to ensure they join the TRS party. The congress party too is not behind; it has already gone on a poll campaign, banging the ruling TRS party wherever it gets a chance. In fact, the recently cancelled panchayat elections would have been a great source of strength for the Congress, however, fearing backlash by the voters the TRS government has made cautions decisions to not to hold the panchayat elections. This clearly tells the TRS government which looks jubilant outside but definitely has inner fear of being opposed by the voters. "During the four years of rule the TRS party fulfilled not a single promise it had made. The TRS has ruined the confidence of the people. Particularly they have fooled the youth and unemployed. The Congress is clearly witnessing the winds blowing in its favour and we are ready to even go for early elections as we are confident that we will win 75 seats in the next elections and form the second government in the new state of Telangana," commented Uttam Kumar Reddy, during a meeting in Jadcherla recently. The CPI on the other hand, has blasted the TRS government and said that an early election by TRS party is only to misguide the people and it is a poly to stiffen the opposition parties. Moreover, it is a big waste of public money. "With early elections the TRS is trying to first win in Telangana with the help of Muslim voters and later it will form an alliance with the BJP for the Parliament elections that will follow in April. However as the party has failed miserably as it has ignored the poor and downtrodden, defiantly they will teach it a lesion," observed Paramesh Goud, CPI district secretary Mahabubnagar.
