Ever since the rumours of early polls are doing rounds, political activities have intensified across the district. From villages to city, people are discussing politics. In villages, people have found a new topic to talk about during their leisure time. While some are praising the government for its pro-farmer schemes, others are pointing out its unfulfilled promises. On the other hand, leaders of political parties are divided on the idea of early polls. While the ruling party’s leaders are welcoming the proposed early polls, other parties are not happy. The CPM sitting MLA Sunnam Rajaiah objected the early polls in the State. “The people had elected the representatives for five-year term. It(early polls) will certainly be against the mandate. Anyway, the party is ready to face any situation in the State,” he said. CPI State joint secretary and former MLA Kunamneni Sambhasiva Rao said,” Anti-government winds are blowing in the State. So the government is afraid of losing the elections if it is conducted as per the schedule,” he commented. He asked the TRS to clarify why are they going for early Assembly polls as people want to know since they had given it the mandate for five years. He said, no reasons are there for conduct of early polls in the state. The government is implementing anti-people policies. The people will definitely give befitting punishment to the ruling party for early polls. All parities will come together to fight against the TRS party in the elections, he said. Echoing the same view, the Congress party state secretary and former MLA Rega Kantha Rao said, “if the government goes to early polls it will be a wrong decision. However, The Congress party is ready to face any elections in the state, he said. “TRS party president and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao had promised houses to every homeless person in the State and also announced drinking water to every household during 2014 elections. Where are the houses and where is the water? How the Chief Minster will ask for votes to the people on what ground by just advancing the elections,” he questioned. On the other hand, the ruling party leaders have welcomed the decision and started charting out strategies for early elections. The party leaders are confident that TRS will come to power as the state govern implemented several people-friendly schemes in the state. The State Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara conducted many meetings in the last couple of days with the party workers in Khmmam district. Addressing the party workers he said, “the party leaders and works are ready to face any situation in the State.” In his speech he did not give clarity on the early polls but he indicated that they are imminent. The Minister also exhorted the party workers and leaders to attend the public meeting on September 2 in Hyderabad.
