8 of 9 who escaped juvenile cell caught

AMBALA: Eight of nine juveniles, who escaped from an observation home, a week ago, have been caught by police here. The cops on Sunday caught four accused and presented them before a juvenile justice board in Ambala The police said that the four boys, who were recently found, were caught from Ambala city. Three days ago, one of the accused surrendered before a juvenile justice board in Ambala, which was headed by principal Pooja Singla. The police have registered a case against the boys, who had escaped the observation home. The observation home authorities did not care about the damaged CCTV cameras and did not get them repaired.

AMBALA: Eight of nine juveniles, who escaped from an observation home, a week ago, have been caught by police here. The cops on Sunday caught four accused and presented them before a juvenile justice board in Ambala The police said that the four boys, who were recently found, were caught from Ambala city. "They were connected with each other and knew the whereabouts of other escapees as well," the cops said.The police was successful in catching one of the accused boys on the same day he escaped the observation home. Three days ago, one of the accused surrendered before a juvenile justice board in Ambala, which was headed by principal Pooja Singla. In its preliminary investigation, a magisterial inquiry conducted by the SDM Ambala held the authorities responsible for the negligence, following which the juveniles escaped from the observation home on February 10.The SDM found that three security guards were missing from the spot when the juveniles escaped. The statements of the security guards have been recorded by the SDM, however the report is yet to be submitted to the higher authorities. It was also learned that one of the security guards was asleep when the juveniles escaped.The boys lodged in the juvenile home took advantage of a ladder lying in the observation home. They broke their barrack and then scaled down the 20-feet wall of the observation home. The authorities, as of now, are probing who left the ladder out in the open.The observation home has a capacity of 50 boys, but 122 boys were accommodated there. It was learned that two inmates used to share one bed and they have been lately complaining about skin diseases.Among the escapees three inmates are facing charges of murder; one for attempt to murder; one is a rape accused, two were arrested under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and two are facing charges of theft. The police have registered a case against the boys, who had escaped the observation home."The search for the remaining inmate is on and he will also be caught soon. Four inmates were caught on Sunday from Ambala city. One of the nine boys was found on the same day, whereas three others were nabbed afterwards. Only one inmate is left and he would be caught soon," said, Ajit Singh station Incharge Ambala Division 3 police station.The cops said that the boys were already planning their escape and had destroyed CCTV cameras a few days before escaping. The observation home authorities did not care about the damaged CCTV cameras and did not get them repaired.
