BRIEFLY Pawan Kumar, a resident of Jandiala Guru, 20 km from here, and his son have been booked for cheating. The case has been registered on the complaint of Gurbinder Singh, who owns a brick kiln in Kaler village. The accused, Pawan Kumar, was working as a munshi at the brick kiln. Gurbinder Singh alleged that Pawan Kumar embezzled Rs 2.28 lakh and his son stole a laptop and some important record from the office. OC Pre-recruitment course The Defence Services Welfare Office will conduct a pre-recruitment course for all categories from April 2. Col. Amarbir Singh Chahal (retd) said interested candidates could get admission in the course. He said candidates would also be prepared for recruitment in Punjab Regiment, Ramgarh, which would be held for four days from April 17. TNSBSF personnel confiscated around 2.5 kg of heroin from near Kakkar border outpost on Monday. The BSF conducted a search operation after getting a tip-off during which five packets of 500 gm heroin each were found buried at the border. It will be handed over to the narcotics control bureau for further investigation.
