BRIEFLY The police have registered a case against five persons, including three women, of Kapurthala district for allegedly abducting a 21-year-old woman of Thathian Mahantan village. The accused have been identified as Palwinder Singh of Fattu Dhinga, Manjit Singh, Sukhwinder Kaur, Sunita Rani and Sarabjit Kaur. The incident took place a month and a half ago. The father of the victim said his daughter worked at a saloon in Bhikhiwind. On March 9, she went to the saloon but never returned. He said one of the accused connived with others to take her away on the pretext of marriage. ASI Balbir Singh, investigating officer (IO), said the police had initiated further investigation in the matter. OC Man robbed of cash Five men robbed Baldev Singh of Ekal Gadda village on Tarn Taran-Khadur Sahib road in broad daylight on Wednesday. Baldev said he was returning to his village on his moped when the robbers stopped him near Bath village and took his mobile phone and a purse contanining Rs 1,400 besides injuring him with sharp weapons. A case under Section 379-B (2) has been registered against him. OCA cop, Navtinder Singh (23) of Sahnewali village, died in a road mishap near Ajaibwali village when he was returning home after his duty hours on Wednesday. He was riding a bike when a speedy Punjab Roadways bus ran over him. The police have booked the driver of the bus, identified as Gursharan Singh of Dhariwal Kalan village. He is yet to be arrested. Gultinder Singh, father of the deceased, said he was returning home to Sahnewali village after finishing his work along with his son Navtinder on his bike. When they reached near Ajaibwali village petrol pump, a speeding Punjab Roadways bus (PB-06-K-9507) came from wrong side and hit his bike. Navtinder sustained serious injuries. He was being taken to a hospital when he died on the way. The Kathunangal police have registered a case.
