Several murder cases await headway

The regular incidents of murder and dumping of bodies at secluded places especially in the rural belt has left the police perplexed. An unidentified woman in her thirties was found murdered at a secluded place near a non-functional brickklin near Jamalpur village on April 6. However, the police authorities said that the cause behind the murder was yet to be ascertained.

PK Jaiswar Amritsar, May 26 Several murder cases took place in the district in the recent past but the police are yet to make any headway in most of them. An unidentified youth was found killed in Jandiala Guru around three days ago. Preliminary probe indicates that was stabbed to death somewhere else and his body was dumped in a field in Talwandi Dogra village. His naked body was later mauled by canines. The police are yet to establish his identity. This is not the lone case. An unidentified woman in her thirties was found murdered at a secluded place near a non-functional brickklin near Jamalpur village on April 6. Her identity hasn’t been established till now.The body had injury marks on her neck, face and back. Similarly, Bua Masih (60), a railway employee, was found murdered at Pakharpura village falling under the Kathunangal police station her on May 3. The mystery behind his murder is yet to be solved. The deceased was a gangman in the railway and was posted at Kathunangal railway station. Initially it was thought that some robbers had killed him as he had withdrawn cash from an ATM. However, the police authorities said that the cause behind the murder was yet to be ascertained. In another incident, an elderly woman was murdered by unknown assailants at her residence at the Amritsar-Attari bypass road near Ranjit Avenue D Block on May 12. The victim, Shinder Kaur (55), was alone at her home as the entire family had gone to attend a marriage function. The incident came to light when her son Kuldip Singh returned home and found her lying in a pool of blood. Similarly, Sikander was found murdered at Sakatari Bagh on March 10. Though the police got to know about one of his friends, Jammu, nobody has detailed information about him. The regular incidents of murder and dumping of bodies at secluded places especially in the rural belt has left the police perplexed. Harjit Singh, SP, Investigation, Amritsar rural, said, “In such incidents, identification of deceased is crucial. Once the identity is established, it becomes easier to investigate the case.” Citing an example, he said that an unidentified youth was found murdered in a drain in Azaibwali village under Kathunangal police station. The police found ‘Rezjak’ tattooed on his forearm and this helped them identity the deceased. Later, his father was arrested for killing him. ADCP (City-II) Lakhbir Singh said investigations were under way.
