Pharmacy owner’s kin held for supplying banned drugs

Bharat Bhushan had taken Rs 5,000 as his commission for providing the same. SSP Parampal Singh, while confirming the development, said Rajan Bhardwaj was arrested while his brother Rajiv Bhardwaj, who owns the firm, was absconding. Following the interrogation of Karandeep, the police found that he had procured the 40,000 tablets for Rs 50,000 from Bharat Bhushan, an employee of the firm. Karandeep was caught with a huge quantity of intoxicants near Khurmaniya village on July 3.

Police on hunt for owner as well for manufacturing drugs illegally PK Jaiswar Amritsar, July 8 In a significant development, the Amritsar rural police have arrested the brother of the owner of Willmark Pharmaceuticals Private Limited, Majitha road, in connection with the seizure of habit forming drugs from Karandeep Sharma, son of a former superintendent of police (SP). The police are also searching for the owner of the firm. Karandeep was caught with a huge quantity of intoxicants near Khurmaniya village on July 3. Around 40,000 intoxicating tablets were seized from his possession. SSP Parampal Singh, while confirming the development, said Rajan Bhardwaj was arrested while his brother Rajiv Bhardwaj, who owns the firm, was absconding. They had stashed a huge quantity of intoxicants in the factory. After the arrest of Karandeep, they had shifted the entire stock to somewhere else. The brothers are said to be known for manufacturing intoxicants illegally. Earlier, they were arrested in Ambala in Haryana under similar offence, the SSP said. Officials concerned have been directed to conduct a thorough search at the factory besides sealing the same. He said further investigation was under way and raids were on to nab Rajiv who was at large. He said the role of his family members was also being looked into. Sections 21, 22, 29, 61 and 85 of the NDPS Act have already been slapped on Karandeep.
