Amritsar, July 7The police have nabbed a former assistant labour commissioner for extortion bid. He allegedly extorted money from a shopkeeper while threatening him of legal action for hiring a migrant on low wages on Friday. “At around 2.30 pm on Friday, Sukhcharan came to me in an SUV and introduced himself as an assistant labour commissioner. He threatened Ashok to frame charges against him and drag him to court. He claimed he had received a complaint against Ashok that he had hired labourers on low wages.
