KCGC to set up Khalsa Medical College

The KMC will come up on 20 acres of land in the backyard of Khalsa College. “The college shall focus on various disciplines of medical education. The hospital will be spread over on 6 lakh square feet.” This will not be entirely a commercial venture and it would be run by the Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS). KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said, “It will be one of the most modern college and hospital with latest technology and equipment that will be imported from Israel.

Amritsar, July 6 The Khalsa College Governing Council is all set to come up with Khalsa Medical College (KMC). The KMC will come up on 20 acres of land in the backyard of Khalsa College. In the first phase, the sprawling complex of modern seven-story hospital would be set up. The governing council plans to meet the increasing demand of health services and medical education in the border region. KCGC honourary secretary Rajinder Mohan Singh Chhina said, “It will be one of the most modern college and hospital with latest technology and equipment that will be imported from Israel. We also plan to offer round-the-clock ambulance service apart from a world class OPD, indoor patient care and high-tech diagnostic centres. The hospital shall also be having provisions for air ambulances. The hospital will be spread over on 6 lakh square feet.” This will not be entirely a commercial venture and it would be run by the Khalsa College Charitable Society (KCCS). Poor and needy will be treated at a low cost. “The college shall focus on various disciplines of medical education. The hospital alone will cost around Rs 100 crore,” said Chhina, adding that KCGC president Satyajit Singh Majithia was eager to start the project but some ground work was being undertaken. In the beginning, the KMC will seek 100 MBBS seats, which would be later increased.
