GNDU slashes parking fee

The parking lots will house the vehicles of the students who wish to use bicycles on the university premises. Prof Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, said “The university is well aware of the financial stress on students. Similarly, the monthly pass for two-wheelers will be reduced from Rs 50 to Rs 25 and for four-wheelers it will be reduced from Rs 100 to Rs 75,” he said.

The parking lots will house the vehicles of the students who wish to use bicycles on the university premises. The authorities believe that the move will boost the use of cycles. Prof Karanjeet Singh Kahlon, Registrar, GNDU, said “The university is well aware of the financial stress on students. We plan to slash the rates of parking ticket for students at the two lots being constructed at both entry gates. The day parking for the two-wheelers and cars will be reduced from Rs 10 to Rs 5 and Rs 20 to Rs 10, respectively.” “The rates are nominal as compared to the slabs of the parking lots at the bus stand for two-wheelers. Similarly, the monthly pass for two-wheelers will be reduced from Rs 50 to Rs 25 and for four-wheelers it will be reduced from Rs 100 to Rs 75,” he said. The university has also asked the hostelers to avoid using their vehicles during teaching hours (9 am to 5 pm) and their vehicles must be parked at the hostel complex. However, the vehicles parked in the hostels may be used by the students for shopping outside or other works. But they will have to use designated routes so that the campus stays safe for girl students, he added.
