Vigilance seeks look out notice against Kolianwali

BATHINDA: The Punjab Police have written to the Union home ministry (MHA) to issue a look out circular (LOC) against senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Dyal Singh Kolianwali . Since the case was registered, Kolianwali has been evading arrest.Sources in the state vigilance said that Kolianwali had apparently filed anticipatory bail application in district and session court Mohali. So he allegedly spent Rs 1.71 crore or 71.5% more than his known sources of income.The vigilance bureau also found that Kolianwali had earned a lot of money from postings and appointments of persons in connivance of government officials. The state force is apprehensive that the former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s close associate, who is facing disproportionate assets case might leave India.A few days ago, the state vigilance bureau had written to the intelligence wing of Punjab Police to ask the MHA to issue LOC. It was likely to be heard on Wednesday.The bureau had investigated period of April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2014, and found that Kolianwali during this period earned Rs 2.39 crore from his known sources of income but spent Rs 4.1 crore.

The state force is apprehensive that the former chief minister Parkash Singh Badal’s close associate, who is facing disproportionate assets case might leave India.A few days ago, the state vigilance bureau had written to the intelligence wing of Punjab Police to ask the MHA to issue LOC. But it was on Monday that the bureau sent the passport details of Kolianwali after procuring it from regional passport office at Amritsar.In the meanwhile, the vigilance has searched the house of Kolianwali at village Kolianwali falling in Lambi assembly constituency represented by Badal.A case was registered against Kolianwali on June 30, for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income and the Prevention Of Corruption Act while he held different public offices during past 10 year including: Village sarpanch; member of subordinate services selection board; and chairman Punjab Agro Industries Corporation. Since the case was registered, Kolianwali has been evading arrest.Sources in the state vigilance said that Kolianwali had apparently filed anticipatory bail application in district and session court Mohali. It was likely to be heard on Wednesday.The bureau had investigated period of April 1, 2009, to March 31, 2014, and found that Kolianwali during this period earned Rs 2.39 crore from his known sources of income but spent Rs 4.1 crore. So he allegedly spent Rs 1.71 crore or 71.5% more than his known sources of income.The vigilance bureau also found that Kolianwali had earned a lot of money from postings and appointments of persons in connivance of government officials. With the money thus earned, he purchased properties in Rajasthan and Uttrakhand, the bureau has said.Vigilance bureau Bathinda SP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu, who had probe the case, said, “We have sent passport details of Kolianwali to intelligence wing of Punjab Police for the LOC against him.”He said that searches had been made at his residence and soon technical team inspect the palatial house which otherwise when searched by the income tax department authorities in 2012, was assessed at nearly Rs 1.20 crore.
